New Diorshow 360 Mascara…..HOT!!!

Uncategorized 114 Comments »

So I think it’s safe to say we all love mascara. So when I was browsing Sephora I noticed a headline for the new Diorshow 360 and had to share. This is probably the best thing to happen to mascara! The new Diorshow 360 has a rotating wand! This will make adding length and curling those lashes a snap! At $36 it’s definitely not cheap, but worth it.  Here’s the rundown from Sephora:

“This professional mascara mimics a makeup artist’s application technique for a perfect 360-degree lash-styling effect. Featuring a patented double-helix brush with extra-smooth fibers and a sculptable wax formula, this mascara features a spinning brush that rotates in both directions to adapt to every need, whether you’re left- or right-handed or you want to pump up upper or lower lashes.”

Here’s a tip to make your mascara last, don’t pump the brush in and out of the tube. Doing so allows air in and will cause your mascara to dry out. If your gonna spend almost 40 bucks, make it last!

Get The Look of Flawless Skin

Flawless Skin

Flawless Skin

Flawless skin. Something we all want and very few have. We spend dollars on face washes, creams, serums and moisturizers to keep our skin looking great. But what few know, is that it really doesn’t take much. So how do we get that “flawless” look?

* Exfoliate. Exfoliating removes rough outer layers of skin, leaving you with a smooth, fresh face.

* Moisturize. A good moisturizer should keep your skin hydrated throughout the day. Keeping your face properly mositurized can help reduce premature wrinkles.

* Conceal. Hide those blemishes with a dab of concealer. Use a concealer that matches the tone of your foundation and be sure to blend well. A flat concealer brush does a great job of this.

* Drink Water. Drinking water is great for your body overall. But drinking water can also help flush toxins out of your pores and keep skin hydrated.

* Smile. Smiling brings a natural glow to your face!

While we’re talking about flawless skin, MAC has just launched Finally Flawless, a mineral based,  SPF foundation. The buildable, creamy foundation blends easily, and leaves you with a naturally revitalized look. If you are a regular foundation wearer, I highly recommend you try this. I know I can’t wait to!

“Mineralize Foundation SPF 15 has the exclusive formula – micronized and coated pigments improve blendability, maintain colour purity with SPF 15, and our liquid mineral ferment complex adds nutrients. Light diffusing optics minimize the visibility of imperfections – FINALLY Flawless!” -MAC

The foundation is available in a large array of shades to complement anyone. There is also a great foundation brush that they have also released. Just be sure to be gentle when using the brush. The foundation brushes with raised bristles, are designed to be used very gently. I am big fan of applying liquid or cream foundation with a brush. The brush allows for even blending and more control.

How do you achieve your flawless looks?

False Lashes
False Lashes

False Lashes

Lashes are something I think we all wish we had more of. False lashes give us the length and volume we wish we had. Some think that false lashes are just for going out or special ocassions. Wrong! Lashes can be worn daily if you wish! With the many different styles available you can add just a few for volume or go all out with feathers. I really love false lashes! I think the biggest hurdle I have encountered with them is the application. Applying false lashes can be tricky. Here are some helpful tips:

* Make sure the lashes are the right length for your eye. Not too long or too short. If they are too long, gently trim them.

* Use tweezers to handle and apply the lashes.

* Always allow the glue to dry for a few seconds before applying to the eye.

* Let them dry!

* Once the lashes have dried use a liquid eyeliner to conceal the lash line. You can use a pencil liner, but liquid lasts longer and makes a cleaner line.

* Add a little bit of mascara to the lashes as well as your own to help them blend.

So what lashes to buy? Most of you know by now that I am a big MAC fan, and I do love their lashes, a lot. But there are some others I like too. Here’s what I recommend:

* MAC’s #1, #2, and #6 lashes are my favorites. You can view them, plus more here.

* Ardell is one of the biggest and most popular names when it comes to false lashes. They are very reasonably priced and widely available at Ulta and drugstores nationwide.

* Duo eyelash glue. It comes with most lashes, but can also be purchased separately at your favorite beauty store.

Here is a great video tutorial I found on YouTube: False eyelash tutorial.

Another great line of polish. Sephora and OPI have teamed up to bring you an exclusive line of ‘Glee’ nail polish!  The colors are super cute! The limited-edition line will be released in February and ‘Glee’ fans are excited.

The colors are Hell to the No, a bold purple; Diva-in-Training, a coral pink; Who Let the Dorks Out, a teal green; Gleek Out, a glittery lime; Miss Bossy Pants, a deep pink; Mash-up a pearly green-grey; and my favorite, Slushy, an opaque powder blue.

These colors are really fun and actually a great complement to the Peacocky collection by MAC . Rumors are that there is a ‘Glee’ inspired fragrance in the works too. Stay tuned!

What do you think of the line?

The Top 10 Must Haves!

Uncategorized 147 Comments »

Let’s talk about must-haves! Here is a list of the top 10 things I think every girl should have:

  1. Mascara — Mascara can brighten and widen eyes and make you look fab even without a lot of makeup.
  2. Concealer — Concealers come in different shades to accommodate different uses. Using the right one can make that blemish non-existent!
  3. Lip Gloss — Oh lip gloss, how I love thee! Lip gloss is a must, ‘nuff said!
  4. Bronzer — Bronzer can give you a healthy glow, year round. Use it in your T-Zone to give yourself a little more color.
  5. Clear Nail Polish — Even if you are not into wearing polish, you should at least own clear. Put some on some bare nails to give them shine and luster.
  6. Eyeliner — Eyeliner can be used to create a bold affect or a subtle one. You choose, but you gotta have it!
  7. Basic Eyeshadow Shades — When it comes to eyeshadow color, the selection is endless. But brown, cream (off-white), gold, black, pink and silver are great basics.
  8. Exfoliating face wash — Taking care of your skin starts with the wash. It’s important to wash your face daily, if not twice. Going to bed with makeup on can lead to breakouts by clogging pores. Exfoliating washes will leave you with a bright, smooth face every time.
  9. Facial Moisturizer — Using the right moisturizer is the perfect base to a great face. Oil-free is best if you already have oily skin, like I do. Use a moisturizer with SPF year round to offer protection from the sun’s harmful rays. If you have sensitive skin be sure to look out for fragrance-free moisturizers.
  10. The right set of tools — Using brushes to apply makeup versus your finger, a sponge or Q-tip can make a big difference. High-quality brushes can be pricey, upwards of $30 a brush, there are less expensive, but good alternatives like this from e.l.f.

Did I miss anything? What beauty items do you think every girl should have?

"Secret Kisses", the new line from Keyshia Dior

Lips, Spring, Trend 145 Comments »

I’d never heard of Keyshia Dior before, until I caught a glimpse of her new lipstick line “Secret Kisses”. The line features 15 super bright, stand-out colors that will capture anyone’s attention. The model, actress, stylist and entrepreneur has taken a look that few would dare to wear and branded it. Colors like “Sunshine” yellow, “Rockstar” purple, and “Electricity” blue are not traditional lip colors, but fabulous nonetheless. I have to admit I’m in love with this line.

The colors are definitely not something I think you could wear everyday or just anywhere. But you could really create some fabulous looks for a night out. The key to wearing such bold colors is confidence! Choose a color that is actually flattering. The first time you wear a color you have never worn before it is going to seem a bit shocking. You’ll get used to it, or it just might be love at first sight. Love the color, but not the intensity? You can mute a lipstick color using a colored gloss, or by using a brush to apply and blend 2 lipstick colors; a neutral nude should do the trick. Don’t forget to exfoliate and prime before puckering up!

The line will be released Valentine’s Day weekend. It is currently available for pre-order here: Secret Kisses.

Would you dolls dare to wear?

Mascara. A girls other best friend. Most of us won’t leave home without it! In my opinion you can never really have too much. Mascara emphasizes those beautiful lashes, makes those eyes pop and can offer contrast with light colored shadows. Every girl has their favorite. For a while it was MAC’s Zoomlash in black for me. Now, I’ll  try anything! I’ve learned over the years that the key to finding a good mascara is in the brush. Recently, manufacturers have done away with traditional bristles for rubber/plastic brushes, and even added motors.

When shopping for mascara it’s all about the brush. A good brush should separate lashes and evenly coat during application. The idea behind the vibrating wand is that it helps to separate and lengthen lashes. You can accomplish this on your own by gently moving the wand from left to right when applying, starting at the base of the lash line and moving outward. Want some more length? Hello falsies! I know, they can be a pain to deal with, but I love the look of tasteful false lashes.

When choosing the right mascara for you consider the color. Black is probably the most popular, but it’s not right for everyone. So here’s the rundown:

  • Black or Brown mascara is best for medium skim complexions and brunette or dark hair.
  • Brown-black is good if you have a darker complexion with lighter hair.
  • Clear is best if you are very fair skinned with light hair.
  • Color mascara is great when you just want to try something new. Experiment to see which color complements you best.

So I wanna know, what’s your favorite mascara?

This image is owned by MAC

The new Peacocky Collection from MAC hit stores today. The collection is full of color and includes products for lips and eyes. Bright blues, greens, purples and pinks make up the majority of the collection. These colors are bold and beautiful. I love the blue gloss in this collection, and i’d love to see someone pull it off even more! Daring! Sexpectations, Top of the Posh and Tweet Me are my favorite eyeshadows in the collection. The collection will be in stores until mid-February.

“We fetishize the exotic peacock as a symbol of extreme beauty, raging against everything simplistic. New Kissable Lipcolour combines full flash with creamy comfort. Mega Metal Shadow gleams like chrome – yet is creamy, crease-resistant, with vitamin-fortified flexibility. Dramatic doesn’t begin to begin to describe the girl who knows she’s Peacocky.” -MAC
